Town of Inuvik - Wage Subsidy Program

In cooperation with the Government of the Northwest Territories and the Department of Education, Culture and Employment, the Town of Inuvik accepts annually, applications for qualified employers to enroll in the Employment Wage Subsidy Program.

Employer Eligibility

Registered businesses, industry associations, local housing authorities, non-governmental organizations, Indigenous organizations, and Indigenous governments are eligible for assistance.

Businesses must:

  • have been in operation for a minimum of six (6) months
  • have a valid Town of Inuvik Business License
  • be registered with the Worker's Safety and Compensation Commission of the Northwest Territories (WSCC)

The Wage Subsidy Program provides support to employers to hire and train NWT residents.

This program is intended to provide work experience and training for up to 52 weeks to better enable participants to obtain meaningful long-term employment.

The wage subsidy only covers actual time worked and does not include items such as Northern Allowance, sick or vacation benefits.

Successful applicants will have to provide the Town with proof of salary payments.
