Boot Lake Sunset.

Scenic Boot Lake Trail is accessible year round, and is Inuvik's contribution to the Trans Canada Trail.

This well groomed 3 km loop around Boot Lake is ideal for walking, running, skiing and snowshoeing.

Winding through mixed spruce and birch forest, with a beautiful gazebo lookout, it offers stunning views of the Mackenzie Delta and Richardson Mountains, as well as the town itself, and wildlife viewing is always a possibility. Keep your eyes open for beavers, rabbits, foxes, and various birds, and it's a good idea to take along bear spray, just in case.

There are two trail heads, one at the Boot Lake-Lions Playground just off the Dempster Highway as you enter Inuvik from the south, and one at Duck Lake Park near the bank of the East Channel in the main part of town.
