Inuvik Fire Department

The Town of Inuvik Fire Department is on call 24 hours a day to respond to all emergency situations and consists of a Fire Chief, Deputy Fire Chief, two Platoon Chiefs, five Lieutenants, 30 Firefighters, two Dispatchers and a Fire Department Chaplain. 

The Fire Department trains on Wednesday evenings and is accredited to national and international standards through programs provided by the College of the Rockies. The minimum standard for the fire department is NFPA 1001 level 1 certification or the Community Firefighter qualification.

Approved operations include Structural Firefighting, Vehicle Extrication, Ice/Water Rescue, Operations Level Hazardous Materials Response, High Angle Rescue, Marine Firefighting, and Wildland Firefighting.
