Remember it is always easier to prevent an accident from occurring than it is to fix it once it’s happened. Play safe and stay safe.

The Inuvik Volunteer Fire Department serves 3500 community residents. Under the direction of the Fire Chief, the crew of 24 responds to calls both in town as well as in the nearby area, including fire calls, motor vehicle accidents, and ice rescue. The I.V.F.F.D. plays an active role in the community through fire prevention initiatives, special events in the community, and offering support to other communities in the Beaufort Delta Region.

The Inuvik Firefighters meet every Wednesday evening for training at 7:30 PM.

Matt Wojdak

It is with deep sorrow, shock, and dismay that on July 15, 2005 we announced the death of Fire Fighter Matt Wojdak of the Inuvik Volunteer Fire Department. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family, friends, acquaintances, and to his other family at the IVFD who are in a state of great mourning. No words can describe what we are all feeling during this time of tragedy. Matt will be forever missed and remembered.
