With the start of a new year, remember it is always easier to prevent an accident from occurring than it is to fix it once it’s happened. Play safe and stay safe.
Protective Services will be conducting regular snow machine patrols within the Town of Inuvik over the next several weeks.
All ATVs (snow machines, 4 wheelers, 3 wheelers, etc.) operating within the Town of Inuvik must meet the following requirements:
- Proof of valid insurance and registration. Registration can be obtained through the Town of Inuvik, Protective Services Department during regular business hours.
- A valid Driver’s Licence or a valid ATV Operator’s Permit. Parents – a child under 16 cannot legally operate a snow machine or ATV within the Town of Inuvik. Parents/guardians, you are ultimately responsible for any fines or charges incurred.
- Any and all riders and/or operators, whether on the machine or riding as a passenger in a toboggan, must wear approved helmets.
Should an operator not be able to provide the documents upon request, or the operator/riders are not wearing approved helmets, the snow machine will be impounded as per Town of Inuvik by-law #1538/TR/98.
If you have a woodstove at home, remember to clean the chimney on a regular basis, especially if you are burning green or wet wood.
The Town of Inuvik 2008 dog tags are available at the Town Office. Please ensure your dog has a current 2008 tag; by-law enforcement officers will check for current registration. Also please remember to update your animal’s annual immunization and remember to have your pet spayed or neutered. We already have too many stray and unwanted animals in this community. |
