2019 Town of Inuvik Spring Beautification Programs

SPRING IS HERE. Join us as we transition our community from the melting spring to the drier summer months in our integrated annual Spring Beautification Programs.

On Wednesday, May 8th, 2019 Inuvik Town Council passed the following motion:

MOTION: 128/05/19   “THAT Inuvik Town Council hereby approves the following spring clean-up activities for 2019:

  • Free tipping for residential users from May 25 to June 20;
  • Free tipping for commercial and industrial users from May 27 to June 10 with the exception of demolition debris and hazardous materials;
  • Two weeks (May 27 to June 10) will be scheduled for large item residential pick-up;
  • Sponsorship of the Community Beautification Contest with categories for residential, commercial and industrial properties;
  • Support for the annual Community Zone Clean-up;
  • Support for the continuation of the Water Rebate Program;
  • Support for the continuation of the Graffiti Hotline Program; and,
  • Support for the development of a general series of ads and interviews about clean-up.”


As such the Town of Inuvik is pleased to offer the following programs:

FREE TIPPING

RESIDENTIAL: May 25 to June 20

COMMERCIAL & INDUSTRIAL: May 27 to June 10

(with the exception of demolition debris and hazardous materials)

WATER REBATE PROGRAM

Summer

As part of our ongoing commitment to community beautification, the Town of Inuvik will once again run a water rebate program this summer to encourage residents to enhance their properties. This can include things like growing lawns or planting flowers and gardens.

Residents wishing to apply for the rebate must complete and return a water rebate application form available on our website at www.inuvik.ca

COMMUNITY BEAUTIFICATION CONTEST

The Town of Inuvik invites you to participate in the Community Beautification Program.  Residents and businesses are encouraged to landscape and beautify their homes, businesses, and neighbourhoods during the summer season.

Who may enter?

Residents, businesses, or community organizations within the municipal limits of Inuvik are eligible. 

How do I enter?

Entry form located at Town Office & Midnight Sun Complex.  Drop off completed forms at Town Office or Midnight Sun Complex by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 26, 2019.

When does judging take place?

Judging of all entries will be done on Thursday, August  8, 2019.

There are two categories:  1) Commercial / Organizations   2) Residential

1) Winner’s Circle (winners of 2016, 2017, and 2018 only)             $ 325.00

2) New entry 2019 – First Place                                                    $ 325.00

3) New entry 2019 – Second Place                                                $ 225.00

4) New entry 2019 – Third Place                                                   $ 125.00 

Residential

COMMUNITY ZONE CLEAN UP

The Town of Inuvik will provide non-profit groups / organizations with an opportunity to raise funds in exchange for cleaning a selected “ZONE” from the zone map.
 
WHO MAY ENTER?
Non-profit, community organizations can register on a first come, first served basis. Each group is only allowed to select one zone each. 
 
IS THERE A REGISTRATION DEADLINE?
Registration deadline is May 23rd at 5:00pm. At that time, any groups who would like to acquire a second zone may submit their request to the Community Services Department. 
All zones are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
 
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Upon successful cleaning of the zone and with approval from the Community Services Department, each group will be awarded $$$ based on the zone size.
 
WHAT’S PROVIDED?
Garbage bags & gloves will be provided to all participants.  
 
WHEN DOES THE CLEANING OF THE ZONES TAKE PLACE?
Clean-up will begin Friday, May 24th. Groups / Organizations have until June 10th to clean their zones.
 
HOW MUCH IS EACH ZONE WORTH?
 
ZONES: 1-3,6,7,8,9         $400.00
ZONES: 4 & 5                 $500.00
ZONES: 10, 11               $300.00
