PUBLIC NOTICE: Request for Continued Vigilance to Deter Mischief & Vandalism

Posted on Tuesday August 16, 2022

Ongoing Mischief
INUVIK WELCOME CENTRE

Public Notice for August 16, 2022

The Town of Inuvik is asking the community for assistance and vigilance as co-stewards of our community infrastructure.

The Town of Inuvik would like to request the assistance from our local families, parents, and care givers to please speak with your children & youth about not playing or loitering in or around the Special Events Pavilion or the Inuvik Welcome Centre, especially afterhours.

In particular we would like to note that on numerous occasions and on an ongoing basis, groups of young adults, children and teens have been observed and caught on camera causing mischief and intentionally damaging equipment and facilities often between the hours of 1:00 am and 3:00 am.

The Inuvik RCMP have been notified and footage has been made available that clearly identifies many of the youth and persons involved. Increased patrols and supplemental surveillance has been installed and activated.

The Town of Inuvik asks our residents to please be aware of and report any suspicious activity at the Inuvik Welcome Centre or any town facility, park, or infrastructure to the proper authorities.
