The Town of Inuvik would like to thank and acknowledge the NWT Arts Council and the GNWT Department of Education, Culture, & Employment for their
generous support over the last year.
We are also very grateful to all of our local participating artists, crafters, cultural hosts, musicians, & performers.
As a result of targeted funding we were able to provide the following programs to our residents & visitors over the summer & fall months of 2019:
CULTURE CONNECTIONS
We delivered 16 traditional arts & crafts workshops featuring 7 different local artists &
facilitators with nearly 50 participants from Inuvik, the Northwest Territories, Canada, &
Abroad. All materials were purchased locally including seal skins, moose hide, beads, sinew,
& other sewing and jewelry supplies.
CONCERTS IN THE PARK, ARCTIC MARKET STAGE & CAMPFIRE STORY TELLING
We held 15 outdoor concerts featuring 10 local musicians and numerous storytelling and
cultural activities with audiences of hundreds of people over the summer from Inuvik, the
Northwest Territories, other parts of Canada, and beyond including the United States,
Europe, & beyond.
We look forward to future opportunities to showcase our talented local artists to visitors and residents in years to come.
