UPDATE & PUBLIC NOTICE

At 08:07 am Friday, January 15, 2021 the Inuvik Fire Department was paged to a reported structure fire at a 4-Unit Townhouse on Natala Drive.
Arriving crews observed visible flames and smoke at the rear of the end unit. All occupants, including pets, had evacuated. The fire was called under control at 08:31 am. Fire crews remained on-scene conducting overhaul and extinguishing fire extension until 11:34 am.
There was damage to the exterior of the originating unit and smoke damage in the three remaining units. Power, water, & heat were restored to three of the units, while the original unit was boarded up and secured by 16:15 pm.
Owners and tenants were allowed to enter their units to collect important belongings.
There were no civilian or Fire Fighter injuries reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
At the peak of the incident Inuvik Fire Department had 5 Fire apparatus with 21 personnel in service.

Of particular note and appreciation are the neighbouring residents for taking in displaced occupants and their pets.
