CASUAL EMPLOYMENT IN RECREATION

We are trying to create a roster of casual staff to fill any personnel shortages for our winter and spring programming season.

Will remain open indefinitely

The successful candidate will:

  • Be honest, trustworthy, and dependable
  • Be respectful and possess cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • Be flexible and demonstrate initiative and sound work ethics
  • Have experience in the safe use and handling of light equipment and power hand tools
  • Have a minimum education level of Grade 10

Preference will be given to those candidates that:

  • Have at least three (3) years of applicable construction or maintenance experience, and/or experience working in a community recreation facility
  • Have working knowledge of WHMIS
  • Have a current First Aid/CPR/AED certification
  • Have a valid Driver’s License

Equivalencies recognizing related education and experience may be considered

The successful applicant must pass a vulnerable sector criminal record check.

We are offering a pay rate of $23.05 per hour, plus $4.77 per hour northern living allowance

RECREATION FACILITIES FOREMAN – PERMANENT FULL TIME

EXTENDED Competition closes Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 1pm MST

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Have at least three (3) years’ experience in maintenance and operation of a Community Recreation Facility
  • Have at least two (3) years’ experience in a leadership role coaching and managing employee performance
  • Have a valid driver’s license

Preference will be given to those candidates that have:

  • One or more Recreation and Park Facilities maintenance and operations certifications such as:
    • MACA Community Infrastructure, Maintenance and Management Training program
    • MACA Recreation Facility Operator Training Program
    • AARFP / ORFA or equivalent – Facility and /or Operational Certifications
  • Refrigeration Plant Certification
  • A Class 5 Power Engineering Operation ticket
  • Pool Operations Certification is an asset
  • Sport Field Maintenance Certification is an asset

Equivalencies recognizing related education and experience may be considered.

The current salary range is $ 36.56 to $48.11 per hour (approx. $76,048 to $100,076 per annum) with a Northern Allowance of $7.34 per hour (approximately $ 15,279 per annum).  The Town of Inuvik also offers a very attractive benefits package.

ANIMAL CARE CUSTODIAN - PART TIME

COMPETITION CLOSES – Friday February 10th, 2023, 1pm MST

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a very adaptable team player
  • Be physically fit to engage in catching, lifting and/or restraining domestic animals
  • Understand the importance of providing daily humane care to animals
  • Have a valid Driver’s License with the ability to obtain a Class 5 NT Driver’s License
  • Preference will be given to those candidates that have experience with running a domestic animal pound facility

Equivalencies recognizing related education and experience may be considered.

We are looking for an energetic, local resident of Inuvik to lend support to our Municipal Enforcement Officers with part time, daily assistance with a variety of domestic animal care duties.

We are offering $23.97 per hour with an additional Northern Allowance of $4.45 per hour for a minimum of 5 hours per week. The schedule will vary, with evenings and weekends required due to the variety of activities. The support may require the successful candidate to be on call 2 days per week, with renumeration at our stand by pay rate of $40 per day and a minimum call out rate of 4 hours pay at the regular rate of pay.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a very adaptable team player
  • Demonstrate an understanding of municipal and territorial legislation and regulations related to planning, development, and building
  • Have at least 2 years related experience and knowledge of the National Building Code, The NWT Planning Act, and their regulations
  • Have excellent writing & communications skills
  • Demonstrate experience engaging professional groups, government agencies, community members, and other stakeholders
  • Hold a relevant post-secondary degree, diploma or certifications
  • Have a valid Driver’s License with the ability to obtain a Class 5 NT Driver’s License

The salary range is $ 37.36 - $ 48.79 per hour (approximately $ 72,852 – $ 95,141 per annum) with a Northern Allowance of $ 7.84 per hour (approximately $ 15,279 per annum).

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Be honest, trustworthy, and dependable
  • Have a minimum education level of Grade 12
  • Be on call and work rotating shifts during evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in construction and/or maintenance
  • Have a working knowledge of WHMIS
  • Have a valid Driver’s License with the ability to obtain a Class 5 NT Driver’s License
  • Have, or be able to obtain the following Certificates:
    • Level 1 Water Distribution
    • Class 3 Water
    • Small Systems for Wastewater Treatment
    • Class 1 Wastewater Collections

The current salary range is $ 33.20 to $43.70 per hour (approx. $69,055 to $90,887 per annum) with a Northern Allowance of $7.35 per hour (approximately $ 15,279 per annum).
