Operation NANOOK-NUNALIVUT 2025 Activities in the High Arctic

Public Service Announcement

Operation NANOOK-NUNALIVUT 2025 Activities in the High Arctic

Joint Task Force (North) (JTFN) will conduct Operation NANOOK-NUNALIVUT 2025 (Op NA-NU 25) from February 23 to March 9 in and around Inuvik, NWT.
Residents will notice an increase in military air and ground traffic in the region during this time, as approximately 500 Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) personnel and equipment, along with allies from the USA and Belgium are transported and employed in various communities. In particular community members will see uniformed CAF members with rifles, employing snowmobiles, and conducting patrols outside of town limits.
Use of ammunition will be restricted to the Top of The World Rifle Range throughout, except for an ice obstacle demolition range on March 4th at the gravel pit 40 KM South of Inuvik centered on coordinate 68°10'28.5"N 133°25'22.5"W.
Members of the public must not approach this area on that day and may hear the explosion.❗
As with all Northern operations, host communities are involved in the planning process to ensure fair and equitable stewardship of the land. JTFN plans its operations in order to minimize its impact on the environment and every effort will be made to minimize disruption to local residents.
In this spirit, several CAF Community Engagements are planned, including:
•Participation in the IRC Hockey Tournament opening ceremony on February 20;
•Attendance at the Arctic Market on March 7 at the Inuvik Public Library.

Operation NANOOK-NUNALIVUT demonstrates the CAF’s capability to project and sustain forces in the High Arctic under the harshest conditions and test new capabilities and interoperability with allies.
