Zoning By-law, Amendments and Maps

Using a series of land use zones and corresponding text, the Town of Inuvik Zoning By-law Plan generally spells out how land and buildings may be used, where buildings and other structures may be located and what constraints may be applicable to the development of a particular property. Contrary to the Community Plan, the zoning By-law is a legally enforceable document which is designed to regulate land use and future development.

The purpose of Zoning is:

  • To facilitate the orderly, economic and sustainable development of the town.
  • To maintain efficiency and harmony in the use of land in the community;.
  • To establish and promote minimum standards for the health, safety, convenience and welfare of the public.
  • To prevent overcrowding of lands.
  • To secure adequate light, air and access.
  • To protect property values.

We invite you to review the new Zoning By-Lay and provide your feedback :
