Aboriginal Day and Midnight Sun Run

National Indigenous Peoples Day

Inuvik is a diverse and vibrant community. In Canada, June 21st is National Indigenous Peoples Day. In Inuvik, Northwest Territories it is a day to celebrate our local Metis, Gwich'in, Inuvialuit people and cultures. Events normally include traditional drumming, dancing and foods. So come join us in Chief Jim Koe Park to get an authentic taste of what the North has to offer.

Midnight Sun Fun Run

Run with the glow of the Midnight Sun on your back in this 5km,10km, half marathon.

The Annual Midnight Sun Fun Run normally takes place on the weekend closest to the Summer Solstice. This event features a friendly noncompetitive atmosphere and community spirit!  For more information please email or call the Recreation Coordinator at 867.777.8636.

More information including registration coming soon.

Summer Solstice

Come celebrate the longest day of the year 200 km north of the Arctic Circle. Enjoy warm temperatures, sunlit streets at midnight and plenty of activities for every wanderlusting soul.

Midnight Madness - A 3-day Community Celebration

While a bit different each year, Midnight Madness takes place on the weekend just before the Summer Solstice.

Typical events include community workshops, dances, concerts, the first Arctic Market of the season, events, contests & competitions, food vendors and more. We suggest following the Town of Inuvik Facebook page for detailed and local information.
